The NH-44 project, covering the regions of Ramban and Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir, aims to provide all-weather connectivity between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley. The upgraded road will reduce journey time between Jammu and Srinagar, improving access to strategic border areas within the state.
With an estimated cost of Rs. 1623.98 crore, which includes land acquisition, resettlement, rehabilitation, and other pre-construction activities, the project will span approximately 32.10 km. The development of this key infrastructure will not only improve transport but also contribute to the region’s overall economic growth by fostering better access to essential services and boosting tourism.
